How to Use the Custom HDPE Manway Flange Protector
These instructions provide general FME guidance. The facility’s approved FME procedure, work package, energy-control program and responsible operations, maintenance, safety or quality personnel control the application.
- Verify the Product and Opening
Confirm the protector’s part number and verify that the opening is the intended W501D5 manway. Compare the cover with the approved drawing, dimensions or site records before installation.
Do not install the cover on a different manway merely because the shape appears similar.
- Establish a Safe System Condition
Confirm that the equipment is in the condition required by the approved work package. Follow all applicable shutdown, lockout/tagout, depressurization, ventilation and stored-energy controls.
Do not use this protector to contain pressure, vacuum, fluid, steam, gas or hazardous energy.
- Inspect Before Installation
Inspect the entire protector, including its edges, surfaces and any attachment points. Do not use it if it is cracked, cut, melted, deeply gouged, chemically attacked, excessively warped, contaminated or otherwise damaged.
